A general introduction to the geological, physical, chemical, and biological processes related to the characteristics and evolution of the ocean system. Students gain an understanding of the important role oceans play in regulating climate and the cycling of elements on the Earth's surface and how the ocean system has been, and continues to be, one of the most important influences on life.
