Provides an understanding of Earth's climate system and the feedback systems that regulate the climate "over long- and short-term" timescales. Includes general oceanic and atmospheric circulation patterns, the major reservoirs and mechanisms of exchange of the global carbon cycle, and the influence and origin of greenhouse gases.
