Survey of modern Japanese thought from a theoretical and intellectual historical perspective. Topics include philosophical discussions of modernization, "Westernization," "nationalism," colonialism aimperialism, "comfort women," Japanese war crimesin continental Asia, the American bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, post-World War II remembrance and denial.
