The historical development of historiography as evidenced in ancient historical writings from Near Eastern king lists and biblical histories to the narrative histories of Greece and Rome. Focuses on the ideas of history in the various cultures of the ancient Near East and Mediterranean and their relation to modern historical thought. Cross-listed with HISE 110.
