Lecture, 4 hours. Prerequisite(s): VNM 001 with a grade of "C-" or better or equivalent or a sufficiently high test score on the Vietnamese placement examination as determined by the department faculty or consent of instructor. An introduction to the sound system and grammar of Vietnamese with attention to the development of the four skills: comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Classes are conducted in Vietnamese insofar as possible. Credit is awarded for only one of the following sequences: VNM 001, VNM 002, and VNM 003; VNM 020A and VNM 020B.
