Explores changes in notions of space, time, religion, economics, history, politics, art, gender, and sexuality through an interdisciplinary consideration of verbal and visual texts. Readings are of Petrarch, Boccaccio, Veronica Franco, Gaspara Stampa, Machiavelli, Castiglione, Ariosto, Benvenuto Cellini, Marco Polo, Cristoforo Colombo. Presents slides of relevant architecture and visual images. Cross-listed with ITAL 140.
