Cultural study of Vienna from fin de siecle to the present through literature, film, philosophy, and the visual arts. Topics include sexuality, visual desire, crisis of language, anti-Semitism, and the post-World War II confrontation with the Nazi period. All readings are in English; selected readings in German for German majors and minors. Cross-listed with CPLT 110A, GER 110A, and WMST 110.
