Introduction to genetic and environmental manipulation of cells for production of proteins and for enhanced biocatalytic and synthetic activities. Cloning and gene expression in different host systems, posttranslational processing, metabolic controls and kinetics, in vivo NMR spectroscopy, cell modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
