Examines alternative theories of society, change, and development, as well as the assumptions and premises on which they are based. Considers how they are used to explain capitalist development, imperialism, colonial encounters, nationalism, decolonization, socialist revolution, modernization, unequal exchange, uneven development, globalization, and postcolonialism.
