Lecture, 3 hours; extra reading, 3 hours. Prerequisite(s): ANTH 003 or ANTH 005 and either upper-division standing or consent of instructor. Prehistory and ethnography of the Great Basin. Topics include the earliest dated archaeological Lithi-stage manifestations, regional and temporal expressions of the Western Archaic, Formative Anasazi and Fremont developments, and the Numic peoples. Emphasis will be on technology and cultural ecology.
