This course o_ers a critical look at contemporary theatre and performance practice, as exempli_ed by the traditionally vital theatre scene in New York City. Approximately 2-1/2 weeks of the course will be spent in New York, attending and responding to a variety of performance events that range from Broadway shows and O_ Broadway productions to performance art pieces in small galleries and experimental work. It is likely that students Cornell College | 2008-09 Academic Catalogue Topics Courses 129 will also attend some dance events and a variety of art museums and galleries. The course will satisfy one of the theatre history and criticism credits required for the theatre major. Entails additional costs. Prerequisite: writing-designated course (W). (Humanities) OLINGER
