Description:

3 credit hours This aesthetic appreciation course covers specific topics in music, such as the American musical theatre, the woman as artist, or music that changed the world (classical, jazz, popular and rock and roll). Each topic defines the terms/problems of the area of study, identifies specific composers and/or compositions and the aesthetic climate in which they arose, and evaluates the composer and composition in terms of their impact on the world of art and society. The students confront aesthetic questions and become equipped to continue to appreciate the arts beyond the classroom experience.
