4 credit hours Prerequisite: MTH 250. This course is an introduction to the theories and techniques used in the practice of statistics. Students will learn about probability theory, random variables, sampling, parameter estimation, descriptive statistics, non-parametric statistics, linear regression and hypothesis testing. It serves as a "W" course for the mathematics concentration of the mathematics/computer sciencemajor. Writing assignments will include lab reports and a research paper about a statistical topic.
