3 credit hours This course in world community studies the interactions of humans within various cultural regions of the world as well as between various cultural regions. Cultural regions that are examined in detail are East Asian, Southwest Asian, Pacific Rim, South and Middle American, sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. The Anglo-American realm is used as the base for comparison. This comparison exposes the students to the relationships of human diversity and interaction among all cultural realms. The students examine the concepts and ideas that form the basis of the global world they live in and experience. By studying the cultural realms of the world, students are encouraged to build bridges of understanding to cultures alien to them.
