3 credit hours This course is a general introduction to the field of P-12 teacher education. At the completion of this course, students will be able to discuss the historical and philosophical development of American education, identify a variety of challenges and rewards related to teaching careers, recognize contemporary educational issues, and demonstrate use of entry-level educational technology skills. Policies and procedures of MLC's Teacher Education Program contained in the MLC Teacher Education Handbook are reviewed during this course. This course includes minimum 10 hours fieldbased experience in area schools.
