4 credit hours This scientific literacy course surveys the inorganic component of chemistry including atomic structure, reactions, bonding, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, and acid-base chemistry. Particular attention is given to the application of chemical principles to human physiology and to environmental concerns, making students scientifically literate citizens. In the laboratory, students learn scientific methodology as applied to chemistry.
