3 credit hours An aesthetic appreciation course that surveys artistic sensibilities stressing, through lecture, image presentation, video and discussion, an awareness of past artistic achievements from Prehistoria to the Gothic Period. Students will develop aesthetic sensitivity and insight into the major artists and artworks, architects and structures, schools of thought and styles by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating these works of Art. The study of Art history provides the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Art and architecture in a variety of past and cotemporary cultural contexts and stimulates appreciation and critical evaluation of creative expression.
