Prerequisite: COS 582. This course deals with aspects of network security from the viewpoint of security services, attacks, and encryption algorithms that provide privacy, message authentication, and non-repudiation. The course provides an overview of the basic building blocks in the security of enterprise networks and issues and techniques employed to address them. The emphasis in the first half of the course is on cryptography. The latter half discusses network security practice and system security.
