Wilderness politics is a case examination of the American political system through a detailed field study of the wilderness issue. The three-week course is held in Colorado each summer with one week devoted to group interviewing on the subject, one week to a field trip, and a final week to a term project which can be done in a location of the student's choice. Special emphasis is placed on the interaction of local, state, and national governments in addressing one of the most controversial issues in the Western United States. Open to qualified sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Three to Four Credits Holmes Summer Term
