An overview of the nature and consequences of a variety of handicaps, including visual, hearing, and mobility impairments. An examination of the many physical, psychological, and social barriers faced by the handicapped in everyday life and in various specific institutional settings such as the schools and the work place. An assessment of possible strategies and policy solutions for confronting the problems of the handicapped. This course meets General Education requirements: Social Awareness.
