Assessment skills are reviewed and practiced. Philosophies of intervention are discussed, including those of abstinence and responsible-use. All major treatment approaches are investigated, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, group work, and family treatment. Beginning helping-professional intervention skills are practiced. Also reviews varieties of programming in substance abuse prevention, community education, and special treatment modalities.
