College: College of Pharmacy Department: Pharmacy Credit Hours: 4 Students will gain an understanding of the application or radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic imaging and treatment of various disease states. Time will be spent at a nuclear pharmacy learning the basics of radiation safety, quality control, and product preparation. They will be familiar with the pharmacology, mechanism of action, contraindications and drug interactions of each type of radiopharmaceutical. They will experience procedural protocols of nuclear imaging in humans and possibly animals. Students will learn the differences between normal and abnormal imaging and the costeffectiveness of imaging in health care today. Pre- Requisites:4th year professional status.
