This course introduces the student to the fundamental concepts of noise and vibration that are encountered daily in our environment and many manufacturing processes. The physical concepts of the generation, transmission, and reception of sound waves are covered, as well as the nature of mechanical vibrations. The practical applications of noise and vibration are emphasized with problem solving and computer solutions. Nonmajors with MATH 216 or 220 should contact instructor for permission to enroll. Pre- Requisites: MATH 216 or 220 and MECH 360. Typically Offered Fall Only
