College: College of Allied Health Department: Clinical Lab- Resp Care-Hlth Ad Credit Hours: 3 This course has a lecture with 2 hours. This course has a lab with 2 hours. Students will be provided with an overview of the medical billing and reimbursement cycle. Study of major medical third party payors including coverage offered, patient eligibility requirements, billing guidelines and reimbursement methodologies. Students will have hands-on practice completing paper and electronic claim forms to obtain maximum reimbursement. Health Information students must earn "C" (2.0) or better on first or second attempt. Two unsuccessful attempts (less than "C") will result in dismissal from the Health Information programs. Co- Requisites: MRIS 211. Typically Offered Fall, Spring, Summer
