College: College of Allied Health Department: Clinical Lab- Resp Care-Hlth Ad Credit Hours: 6 The student will be assigned to a health care facility or coding/billing department for a six week internship where they will gain real-world experience in applying procedures previously taught in the classroom. Students will gain experience coding medical record reports according to ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles. They will also submit medical claim forms according to the various payor guidelines. Pre-Requisites: Department permission. Typically Offered Fall, Spring, Summer
