The concepts of performance metric-based management systems are developed, including the concepts of leading and lagging performance metrics, and the interrelationships between the four major systems in every organization: financial, organizational learning, process, and customer systems. The interrelationship between the Balanced Scorecard and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria as performance metric systems will be explored.
