An introductory course covering the physical and chemical laws governing the principles of refrigeration. The basic refrigeration cycle and components will be covered. Applications will include alternate refrigerants, transferring, evacuation and system reprocessing, flaring, soldering, and brazing techniques of copper tubing. Requires: Co-requisite: MATH 116 Typically Offered Fall, Spring HVAC 102 Thermodynamics of Refrigeration College: College of Technology Department: HVARC Credit Hours: 4 This course has a lecture with 3 hours. This course has a lab with 3 hours. A continuation of the basic refrigeration cycle and application of the mollier diagram and thermodynamics. Emphasis on instrumentation and testing of system, balance, with proper operating capillary tube & TXV systems, and mechanical system troubleshooting. Problem solving will be covered.
