Students design and detail single and multiple cavity plastic injection molds and products using drawing boards and computer aided design systems. Analysis of mold cavity fill, gate location(s)/size, runner size, and balance will be evaluated with computer aided mold fill programs. Instruction on the theory, application and practices of: plastic materials, forming and molding methods/machines, mold: bases, venting, cooling, ejectors, materials, heat treatments, fabrication, and finishing practices. Requires: CDTD 121 Typically Offered Fall and Spring.
