Joining metals with an emphasis on their weldability, design and fabrication considerations, inspection and testing of weldments, and the design of the equipment for the most common welding and cutting processes. Included are the selection of the welding processes relative to the product, material type, and production requirements. Students will prepare weld joints that are properly designed, evaluate and test the quality of their weldments. 2 lecture/problemsolving, 1 threehour laboratory. Prerequisite: MFE 201 or MFE 230.
