4 credit hours This course applies the fundamentals of physics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, climatology and geology to understanding fundamental energy and environmental problems facing mankind today. Basic physical science is focused on current controversies that should concern an educated person. An emphasis will be placed on gathering information from current resources and explaining that information to a lay audience. Topics covered may include acid rain, climate change, automobile emissions, and conventional and alternate energy sources. Three lecture hours and two lab hours per week. Prereq: ACT Math sub-score of 17 or Math 100. (Fall and Spring)
