4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: Membership in the honors program. Considers the AIDS pandemic from biomedical, public health, and human rights perspectives. Students gain an appreciation of the fundamentals of infectious diseases, epidemiology, immunology, and virology. Human and societal factors that impact the transmission, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/AIDS and vice versa will be interwoven throughout the course to provide a realistic and multidimensional view of the pandemic and its solutions.
