The focus of this course is to train chemistry, biochemistry, and biology majors in acceptable laboratory practices. Topics covered include: emergency response procedures, general laboratory safety guidelines, identification and use of safety equipment, chemical storage and waste disposal, legal aspects including government standards (OSHA, ANSI, EPA), handling glassware, equipment and reagents, record keeping, library and on line resources. Required course for all chemistry, biochemstry, chemistry education majors as well as departmental student workers.
