6 credit hours Prerequisites: FRS 140, English Proficiency Exam, junior standing; and at least 21 hours in mathematics courses, including 6 hours at the 300-level, that satisfy requirements for the Major in Mathematics The Senior Study requirement is fulfilled with this two-course sequence. The study may take one of several forms: activity directed toward the creation or discovery of new mathematics, works of scholarship about mathematics, independent study or a mathematical topic outside of the curriculum, or an individual or collaborative project involving experimentation, data collection, and statistical analysis. All involve individual study and research under the guidance of a faculty supervisor and culminate in a formal paper that follows a division-specific format.
