3 credits This course is designed for students in the Middle School Education program who elect mathematics as a primary or secondary field, students minoring or specializing in mathematics, or students who have A special interest in the study of mathematics. The focus of the course is on selected current topics in the mathematics curricula of the elementary and middle school grades. Emphasis is on the mathematical basis of these topics as well as on styles and methods of teaching mathematics and sequencing curricula. Students are expected to design and present curriculum materials. Prerequisites: CEDUC 2351, 2352, 2353, or CSPED 2354; CMATH 1009, 1010, or 2104; CMATH 2140, 2142 , 2144, or 3146.
