3 credits This course introduces students to basic animation techniques using the Macintosh computer. Both the history of animation and current practice are examined. Examples viewed in class include independent and experimental animation from around the world. Students create A variety of projects from simple flip books to more complex animated sequences with characters, objects, moving backgrounds, and soundtracks. Prior knowledge of filmmaking and drawing is not necessary. Emphasis is on personal creativity and vision. Students will be expected to devote extensive time outside of class to completing projects. Prerequisite: CCOMP 2540 or permission of the instructor.
