3 credits This course provides an overview of theories of addiction. Addiction will be examined in the context of race, gender, sexual orientation, and class. Students will be introduced to methods of identification, diagnosis, intervention, and referral of substance abusers in A variety of settings. Students will also have an opportunity to visit addiction treatment facilities. Usually offered fall semester.
