3 credits This course is A hands-on study of A new kind of cultural institution: the "constructivist museum," whichpreserves history while it generates values and behaviors that restore human community. Course content is interdisciplinary, integrating African-American history, organizational dynamics, maritime history, and educational methods. A 24-hour overnight experience living aboard the ship includes interviews with experts, environmental education labs, sailing and navigation, and will involve instruction by the Ernestina's educators. Note: This course is open to Master's and Bachelor's students. Non-credit option also available. Usually offered fall semester.
