3 credits In order to better understand the components of American culture, This course explores the thought and expression which reflect the diversity of values of people in the past and present United States. Readings and discussions examine the social and material context of American life by considering the experiences of Natives, Africans, Asians, women, poor, etc. along with projects and activities which identify and examine the assumptions and values expressed within contemporary U.S. society. Usually offered fall semester.
