3 credits Provides an overview of the historical, cultural, political, and legal issues in domestic violence. An overview of strategies and theories in prevention will be addressed through identification of risk behaviors. Custody, mandated treatment, probation, restraining orders, court advocacy, and social and behavioral models of violence will be introduced. Assessment and treatment models, including harm reduction, will be presented and applied in case studies. Usually offered fall semester.
