Computer methodology for the design and implementation of process automation, starting at the level of the individual machines, leading up to process cells, production lines, networked and global manufacturing. Hands-on experience with manual and numerically controlled machines (DNC), followed by local-networking tools (Intranet) for the implementation of processes requiring several machines, leading to global networking for global manufacturing. Hands-on experience is gained via tools of rule-based graphical programming. Prior knowledge of programming is not required. 4 cr, 2nd sem.
