Through reading, writing, and simulation exercises, students will: (1) examine the historical emergence and evolution of political parties and legislatures and the original problems they were meant to address; (2) explore literature on the changing role of these national institutions in the face of globalization; and (3) examine the links between legislatures, parties, and the problemofmaking democracy work.
