Fall, Spring. Based on results of university approved English proficiency exams such as the TOEFL, IELTS, or others, international students may be required to take this intensive ESL course before entering the regular university curriculum and/or before taking ENG 100 or a higher composition course. Instruction in English grammar and sentence structure, reading and writing skills, and vocabulary to prepare students for college or graduate-level work. A grade of "C" or better and successfully passing an English proficiencytest is required to exit the course.
