A survey and close reading of the prominent literature from Europe, as well as from the rest of the world, excluding Britain and the U.S.A. By examining epics, dramas, short stories, novels, and poems, the student obtains a balanced background in the literary traditions which have arisen in diverse cultures. May be used as a literature elective for Liberal Arts requirements. Three hours.
