An introduction to the peoples of Ancient America from the primitive village cultures to the arrival of the Europeans. This course considers the development of civilization and culture in the Mesoamerican region of the New World and its accompanying art forms. It explores the art and architecture from the Pre- Classic age of the Olmecs, through the Classic age of Teotihuacan and the Maya to the Post-Classic world of the Mixtecs and the Aztecs. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing. This course is designated as fine arts division general education course.
