Plants have played a signifi cant role in the shaping of our world from the beginning to the present day. This course will explore our utilization of plants as food, fuels, materials, medicines, gene sources, and social aspects over time in different cultures. The world depends on about fi fteen plant species most of which have been changed by plant improvement methods. We will explore the changes that have occurred in these important crops. This course will be a blend of the uses of plants and plant constituents in medicine and how technology is used to produce, purify, and provide the plant produced constituents.
