The study of structure, function and organization of proteins, nucleic acids and other biological macromolecules in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Major topics of this course include organization of the genome, replication and repair of the genome, and regulation of gene expression. The laboratory portion of this course emphasizes basic techniques of molecular biology with emphasis on recombinant DNA technology.
