A survey of artistic traditions (to include architecture, decorative arts, art of the book and painting) from the seventh century onwards in countries from Asia, Africa, and Europe that were influenced by the religion of Islam. There will be an opportunity for each student to pursue special interests in depth. Part of the Arabic language/culture concentration; the art history concentration and minor; and may also be taken as an elective. Part of the international studies Middle East track.
