This course is designed to acquaint each student with the basic methods employed in the production of hybridoma cell lines and monoclonal antibodies. Includes preparation of viable cell suspensions, lymphocyte-myeloma cell fusion using polyethylene glycol, selection for and culturing of hybridoma cells, cloning by limiting dilution, ELISA, immunization of mice, monoclonal antibody production and scale up of hybridoma cells.
