This course provides an overview of materials used in biomedical applications, both internal and external to the human body. Structure and properties of biomaterials will be covered, in addition to material performance in hostile environments. Some experiments will be performed in class. A variety of applications will be covered, with topics to be selected based partly on student interest. Each student will research the material and past performance of a bioengineering product; the work will be presented to the class during week 10.
