This course will discuss the changing nature of communication, the requirements of emerging applications, the effect on network design and the security concerns associated with them. The focus is on the evolution of multimedia services (such as voice and video) and Internetworking technologies in supporting convergence. While examining upcoming technologies and future trends that will impact the direction of IP and broadband technology development, of primary concern will be standards, protocols, deployment, and emerging technologies involved in the Voice over IP and Video over IP systems.
